About the San Diego Museum of Art
The San Diego Museum of Art came to be as a result of the Panama-California International Exposition. In both 1915 and 1916, the celebration of this Exposition in San Diego, due to the opening of the Panama Canal, was what led to the recognition of the cultural diversity in San Diego. It was this event that led to the collection of artwork in the city, and this later developed into an art museum to preserve this growing culture center. The museum was finally constructed and established in 1925 and was the start of a great organization of the creative works of artists around the world.

The San Diego Museum of Art features many fantastic exhibits that show exemplary works of art. This museum is on a constant state of showing new exhibitions and collections and is well known for this purpose. With exhibits like the Art of Devotion, Artists at War, and the Art of East Asia, this museum is able to convey many different themes and mediums of art, as well as the attitudes, culture, and historical context in which the artwork was created.

Of course, this museum hosts a number of events annually as well.  Lectures and Tour series are available periodically throughout the year, as well as a number of cocktail events which guests may attend. In addition to all of these great attributes, the San Diego Museum of Art even offers educational programs for people of all ages.
